Is marine diesel fuel the same, and/or priced the same, as off-road/non-highway diesel fuel?
I can’t seem to find any information on this. I am looking into purchasing a small sport fishing yacht in Va Beach and I noticed that dock diesel is fairly high. So if it is the same, I could contact a local distributor that has off-road fuel to supply me, given there aren’t any restrictions on it. Thanks for all advice.
Same stuff. Dye is added to keep track of taxable fuel. I know a guy that has used his home heating oil in his diesel car and boat for years with no problems. If you are keeping the boat at a marina and plan on fueling it there better see if that is allowed. Or ask the distributor if he has a spot they could fuel you. Good luck with the new boat.
